How did we get into writing a site about hardwood flooring? We’ll it was when be bought our first house. It was a typical 1960’s bungalow, nicely renovated with carpeting throughout. It was perfect for us, the kids plus the dog!  After the last son moved out to attend university, and our pets had over the years passed on, we found the house quiet and empty.  But hey, now we could finally have that office we desired, and we could make the other bedroom into a sewing/watercolor painting room.  We decided to kick it up a notch and renovate!  Like everyone else was doing.  So the first thing to go were the carpets.  We were going to put in new ones, but what did we find – beautiful hardwood flooring.  A gold mine!

But we had no experience on how to develop these long hidden gems into their former glory. And that is how we got started into understanding everything we could about hardwood flooring. We had over the years heard horror stories of people uncovering their hardwood flooring and without even understanding what they were doing, totally destroying them beyond recovery. We did not want to go down that path.  So we made a pack that before we tried anything, we would do our due diligence first and research thoroughly.  And that we did, we read books, talked to the wood floor installers getting tips of the trade, and making hundreds of notes that we stuffed into boxes – which now compose this website.

So we hope that you find our hardwood flooring site useful and informative. And though we have tried to cover everything we thought would be useful to our visitors, we are sure there are hundreds of questions still unanswered out there.  But our love for hardwood floors keeps us continually researching and learning what the latest techniques and technology is out there.  And therefore continually keep adding more information all the time.  We hope to help you in your quest to understand all the areas within hardwood flooring also.
