Hardwood floor refinishing equipment, reviving your floor

Hardwood floor refinishing equipment is not something you use everyday – unless it’s your job, in which case you probably already know everything there is to know about it. When the time comes for you to refinish your floor, there some basic tools that help a lot. Of course, you won’t be surprised to hear that the most important one is… the sander.

There are different types of sanders. You’ll use the drum sander for most of your floor area, and then use an edge sander to get where the drum sander can’t reach (corners, and wall edges). You’ll need to make several passes, first with a rough sanding, and then a finer one, until you get to make the final pass and finish it with a palm sander to achieve the best possible result. As you can imagine, this is not a task easily done by most people. If you don’t feel confident you can complete the task – seek professional assistance. After the sanding, you get to apply the stain and actual finish (and don’t forget to vacuum the whole room thoroughly after the sanding, and that applies to walls and ceiling too).

Is all this trouble really worth it? Well, I’ll leave that up to you. Who likes to see their floor full of scratches and with a dull finish? Sure, it not an easy task, but after you’re done it will be like being in a new place. And with the proper care, you won’t have to hear the drum sander noise again for a very long time.
